Title IX Legislation
and the First initiated in 1979, Title IX Legislation mandates gender equity in school athletic programs. In 1994, the NCAA adopted legislation to identify emerging sports for women as a means to provide increased opportunities to female student-athletes at the university level. Many universities are still in need of fulfilling gender equity quotas in compliance with Title IX. Other women’s sports
have become more popular because of the adoption of Title IX/Gender
equity requirements in Intercollegiate Athletics. We need to
do the same and make this vision a reality.
This is a huge task and will take several years of hard work to complete. The NCAA has given us guidelines to use as we work to develop these club twirling programs. This is where college twirlers become an integral part of the success of the NCAA movement. Twenty (20) clubs must be formed and in place on campuses before the NCAA will even begin to consider baton twirling as a sport. We need help.
